What is spam?
SPAM is defined as unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail. Only one out of every thousand people receiving these messages are interested in them. Since companies have no way of knowing who is interested in their message they send it to as many email addresses as they can get their hands on.

What does it mean to unsubscribe or opt-out?
When a recipient asks to be removed from your email list. Unsubscribe requests should be honored as soon as they are received.
Subscribers should always be given the option to unsubscribe each time you broadcast to your list. This ensures that you continue to have their permission.

How do I handle bounce-backs and replies?
With any email broadcast, a certain percentage of messages will fail, or "bounce back" for various reasons; an email address may no longer exist, or a recipient’s inbox may be full. For high volume permission email broadcasts, collecting, identifying and categorizing bounces and recipient replies can place a significant burden on in-house resources. For this reason alone, outsourcing email delivery and tracking to an experienced service provider is essential for many companies.

How does open rate tracking work?
Currently, HTML or lite HTML (such as some AOL programs) can be tracked, but plain text cannot. When a user receives an email and opens it (or currently when it's previewed), the images included in that email are called from the host site. In order to track these emails, most often a transparent, one-pixel image is imbedded into the email to count how many times that particular email was opened by how many times that particular image was called.
EQUAT Messengerä takes it a step further to show you who opened your emails, not just the overall number. You can easily develop complete profiles of your subscribers from list level all the way down to the individual level.
